Details. Our daily lives includes many details. It included things we
need to do or must not forget to do.
If you are like most people, you probably take the time to
make lists for yourself, lists that might look like this:
Grocery List
Bill Pay List
Gift List
Laundry List
Bill Pay List
Gift List
Laundry List
And, if you happen to be a mother of young school age
children, I wouldn’t be surprised if you had more lists than children…..
List can serve as subtle reminders that keep us from
forgetting things and permit a otherwise chaotic schedule to appear somewhat orderly if kept to.
This morning as I was praying and reflecting on today’s
scripture readings from St. Paul,
I realized that I had one more list to add to the ones I mentioned above. In this scripture
reading St. Paul details just how we should live our lives if we are interested in being the best Christian we could be.He states that know matter what we accomplish in this life it holds little value without these three things:
Faith
Hope
Love
The greatest of these is Love
There is “a still more excellent
way” for us…
Today I want to personalize this list, I want to give it the
detail it deserves.
Love is patient…..
Who is it in my life that I am repeatedly impatient with?
What sets me off about this person?
Love is kind…
To whom have I been unkind in my thoughts, in my words, in
my deeds? Who do I ignore?
Love is not jealous or rude….How does this speak to me?
Love does not brood over injury….
Why is it that I won’t let go? What good does holding on to
this memory serve me?
Our Lady, Queen of Peace speaks of love today: 1
“If you love with all your heart, you will receive so much.
If you hate, you will lose every thing. Dear children, love makes great things.
The more love you have within you, the more you can love the people around you.
That is why I ask you to pray unceasingly to Jesus that He fill your hearts
with love.” BVM 4-12-87
