Commentators: Message Is A Major Sign

By Jakob Marschner

The Christ Child speaking instead of Mary on Christmas Day signifies major changes around the apparitions, and may even herald the end of the Virgin Mary’s messages, commentators agree. The Christ Child’s message echoes Jesus’ farewell discourse to the disciples in Gospel of John 13-14.

Experienced Medjugorje commentators agree that the unprecedented event on Christmas Day, the Christ Child speaking instead of the Virgin Mary, is a big and most significant development, a harbinger of major changes being underway.

“My personal feeling is that this change heralds the approach of the end of Our Lady’s messages as we have been used to all these years. We may be about to enter a new phase of the Medjugorje phenomenon” a longtime follower of Medjugorje with the pen name “bluecross” comments on Medjugorje Live. His real name is known by Medjugorje Today.

The Christ Child’s words in the Christmas message from Medjugorje echoes Jesus’ farewell discourse to His disciples in John 13-14, depicted here in Duccio di Buoninsegna’s work “Maesta” (1308-11)

Over the years, a bluecross specialty has been locating the Bible passages that the Virgin Mary paraphrases in her Medjugorje messages. On Christmas Day, he soon tied the Christ Child’s surprising Medjugorje message “I am your peace, live My Commandments” to Jesus’ farewell discourse to His disciples in John 13-14:

“Jesus speaking in this way echoes His farewell discourse in John’s Gospel when he says: “Peace I bequeath to you, My own peace I give you, a peace the world cannot give, this is My gift to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” (John 14 : 27) Elsewhere in the discourse He says: “If you love Me, you will keep my Commandments” (John 14:15)” bluecross noted.

“The start of the discourse begins: “My little children, I shall not be with you much longer” (John 13 :33). In fact, the whole of the discourse can be viewed as a summary of all that Our Lady has been teaching us these past 31 years. (John 13 : 33-38, and chapters 14 to 17) bluecross added.

“Soon we expect an announcement from the Vatican on the Medjugorje phenomenon and I think this plus today’s major surprise will not be unconnected. That is just speculation on my part, but the surprise today’s message brings will make many ponder the reason why.”

Wayne Weible

Wayne Weible, the most popular author of books on Medjugorje since the 1980s, also ascribes great meaning to the unexpected way the Christmas message was given.

“I agree that it is a clear sign that Medjugorje’s first part is near completion. As to the meaning, yes, time is short. We have been given an extraordinary grace of nearly 32 years of direct teachings from Heaven. Jesus is definitely appealing directly to those of us who have accepted His grace, to pray with great intensity for those who have not yet discovered the love of God” Wayne Weible tells Medjugorje Today.

Our Lady's Medjugorje Christmas message, Jesus Speaks and Our Lady Remains Silent

December 25, 2012

Apparition Today to Marija... Our Lady did not give a message... it was the Infant Jesus who gave the message.

*Our Lady came with little Jesus in her arms and she did not give a message, but little Jesus began to speak and said : "I am your peace, live my commandments." With a sign of the cross, Our Lady and little Jesus blessed us together.

THE GREATEST HISTORICAL CONFRONTATION

Pope John Paul, The final confrontation

We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has gone through. I do not think that wide circles of the American society or wide circles of the Christian community realize this fully.

We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the anti-Church, of the Gospel and the anti-Gospel. This confrontation lies within the plans of divine providence. It is a trial which the whole Church… must take up.

+ Cardinal Karol Wojtyla (JOHN PAUL II), reprinted November 9, 1978, issue of The Wall Street Journal from a 1976 speech to the American Bishops
Our Lady of Guadalupe, Pray for us.

"Dear children! Today again I invite you to devote your life to me with love that I may be able to lead you with love. I love you, dear children, with a special love and I want to bring you all to heaven, to God. I want you to understand that this life is so short compared to that one in heaven. So dear children, decide for God again today. Only then shall I be able to show you how dear you are to me and how much I wish you were all saved an in heaven with me. Thank you for having responded to my call!"  BVM, Medguorje November 27, 1986

I Want To See

“ The Lord Jesus took compassion on us in order that he might call us to himself and not scare us away. He comes as some one gentle, someone humble” Saint Ambrose

How many times have I cried out to you,
Have pity on me Lord?
I want to see.

Lost inside myself,
Blinded by doubt,
I want to see.

Do you believe I can do this?
You say to me…

Yes, Lord, I believe.

Then come to me, you will see me in the celebration of the sacraments.

Come to me, you will see me in the divine teaching of the scriptures.

Come to me, you will see me in the beauty of nature,
my creation will surround you.

Look for me in the crowd,
You will see my face in the people you meet each day.

In joyful hope we wait for you,
Come Lord Jesus!

Not As The World Gives

“I felt great peace”

Anton Guanaratnam  is a pilgrim from Canada and he heard about Medjugorje six years ago. He said how his friend had a brain tumor and he wanted to be able to say to her that God exists. “She was not baptised and I was trying to explain to her that God exists. Then, I heard about Medjugorje and I started to return to my faith. After hearing about messages, I started loving Our Lady and God more. This is where I have been coming for the last six years and I want to spread Our Lady’s messages to the world. Our Lady has done so much for me. I felt great peace here on Apparition Hill. I love to listen to homilies during Holy Masses. I find Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament really special since so many people are adoring Jesus and everything here is so peaceful and that is why it is so special”, said this pilgrim from Canada.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.  John 14:27

May the peace of Christ be a gift you share with someone today.

Cleansing the Soul

I had walked past the mirror many times before noticing the smoky film that had began to cloud its reflective shine. Hmmm, I thought to myself, had it really been that long since I had last attended to it?

Promptly, I walked over to my cupboard, the one that houses all my cleaning supplies. I got out a fresh cloth and began to wipe off the dust that had accumulated, and then I took out my window cleaner, a small bucket and a squeegee to finish the job.

I carefully washed the mirror, starting from top to bottom. Then I stood off to the right and then to the left, inspecting it ever so scrupulously, making sure that not a single streak or smudge was left behind.

The film  is now completely gone and when  the afternoon sun shines through the window and onto the mirror its reflection is brilliant.

A thought came to mind that our souls, left unattended, can quickly become much like the smoky mirror.

Caught up in daily routines and desensitized by an ever growing secular society and strong media influence, we fail to notice the film and residue that we begin to collect within us. The light of Christ, the one that is meant to separates us from the world, fades leading us to stumble and lose our way.

That is when we need to draw on the strength of the sacraments of the Church. Confession is a cleansing of the soul. It removes all obstacles of sin that have built up. It sets us free of guilt and shame. It strengthens us for the journey of life, enabling us to be a reflective light of our Savior Jesus Christ.

In the first months of the apparitions in Medjugorje, the following was given to Vicka and Jakov:

“ Pray, pray! It is necessary to believe firmly, to go to confession regularly, and also to recive Holy Communion. It is the only salvation  (BVM, 2/10/1982)

No matter what we have done, if we turn away from the sin, and turn to Jesus we will be forgiven.

Set Me Free

Of all the enemies that I might have,
I know I am the worst.
In guilt and shame I dwell on flaws,
My mind becomes immersed.

And then I hear my Shepherd’s voice
Calling after me,

His arm outstretched,
Both firm and strong.
He’s come to set me free.

Speaking to the prayer group that Ivan and Marija had formed, the Virgin said:

You will be happy if you do not judge yourselves according to your faults, but understand that graces are offered to you even in your faults.” BVM, Medjugorje May 12, 1986  1

Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. (Lk 6:37)

Forgiveness not only frees the mind and heart, it also opens us up to receive the great gift of peace. But we cannot receive this grace while bitterness and resentment toward others tear at our souls.

Lord, you are truly the Good Shepherd of my soul.
Thank you for creating me just the way I am, with all my flaws and imperfections.
Today I surrender my past to you and I give to you my future.
Heal me heart of any bitterness and hurt that I may cling to;
Fill me with your peace, that I may be peace to all I meet this day.
 ~Amen

I Implore You To Perserve As My Apostles

Our Lady Queen of Peace of Medjugorje’s November 2, 2012
Apparition and Message Given to Mirjana on the Day for Nonbelievers

Wrapped in ponchos, hats and gloves, pilgrims braved the rain and cold to spend the night in prayer before Our Lady’s arrival at the Blue Cross. Rosaries and singing began as early as 6:30 P.M. November 1st, and continued throughout the night, as thousands gathered to greet Our Lady this morning. The joy throughout the crowd was visible as Mirjana arrived and knelt at the Blue Cross. Our Lady appeared around 8:39 A.M., coming in the middle of the Rosary. Our Lady stayed for 6 minutes.  Following is Our Lady's message given today, November 2, 2012 on the day of prayer for nonbelievers:

“Dear children; As a mother I implore you to persevere as my apostles. I am praying to my Son to give you Divine wisdom and strength. I am praying that you may discern everything around you according to God's truth and to strongly resist everything that wants to distance you from my Son. I am praying that you may witness the love of the Heavenly Father according to my Son. My children, great graces have been given to you to be witnesses of God's love. Do not take the given responsibility lightly. Do not sadden my motherly heart. As a mother I desire to rely on my children, on my apostles. Through fasting and prayer you are opening the way for me to pray to my Son for Him to be beside you and for His name to be holy through you. Pray for the shepherds because none of this would be possible without them. Thank you.”

Mirjana said that Our Lady blessed all of us and all of our religious articles brought for blessing. Mirjana said that Our Lady was decisive.

Holy Hour

Each day I want to spend an hour
That's given just to You.
To let Your light come shine on me
To show what's good and true.

You fill me with Your presence Lord,
Your wisdom, joy and peace.
And changing anger into trust
You make all storms to cease.

Striving for Sainthhood

May all of the holy angels and saints intercede for you on this very special feast day~

Today, the Church celebrates All Saints Day. The magnificent diversity of the Saints indicates to us that we have been called to holiness. Holiness is about more than a kind of humanism; it's about a deliberate and sincere discipline of life by which we imitate Christ and accept his presence in all the circumstances of our lives.

Fr. Barron's sermon on this great Solemnity and Holy Day of Obligation is featured here. In this sermon, Fr. Barron speaks of the panoply of saints, both those who are similar to us and those who bring out the parts of us that are "in shadow." He speaks of how making those complementary saints our friends can help sanctify this shadow side.

He also reminds us that it is now "our turn" to become saints. God desires us to be with him; he wants more saints-- now is the time.

In addition, here is the preview clip from Episode 8 of the CATHOLICISM series in which Father Barron speaks of the "little way" of the great saint, Therese of Lisieux:

Renew Fasting and Prayer

“Dear children! Today I call you to pray for my intentions. Renew fasting and prayer because Satan is cunning and attracts many hearts to sin and perdition. I call you, little children, to holiness and to live in grace. Adore my Son so that He may fill you with His peace and love for which you yearn. Thank you for having responded to my call.”  BVM, Medjugorje, 10/25/2012

And when he was coming into the house, his disciples secretly asked him: Why couldn't we cast him out?... And he said to them: This kind can come out only  by prayer and fasting. (Mark 9:27, 29)

Fasting has become a forgotten religious Biblical and Christian theme. And its concepts are largely lost in the Church. Yet, Our Lady calls us time and time again to the spiritual disciple of fasting.

"The best fast is on bread and water. Through fasting and prayer one can stop wars, one can suspend the natural laws of nature. Works of charity cannot replace fasting... Everyone except the sick, has to fast." BVM, Medjugorje. 7/21/1982

Today, we know that many illnesses are caused by excessive eating and drinking. Obesity is on the rise in adults and children and many of us have developed a disorderly relationship with food in general. As a result of this, many people are returning to a more natural and healthy way of eating.

Throughout the Old and New Testament we see that fasting has always been connected with prayer as a means to peace. Prophets fasted before accepting their service as prophets and before special revelations. Jesus fasted prior to His public life and said that those that are His own will also fast.

When Jesus spoke to His disciples about how to fast, He clearly was expecting that they would fast (Matthew 6:16-18 ). He did not say "if you fast" but "when you fast."

As the Catechism of the Catholic Church puts it, fasting and abstinence

“help us to acquire mastery over our instinct and freedom of heart. (CCC 2043) 1

Our Lady asks everyone to pray all three Mysteries of the Rosary and to fast two days a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays.

To many people this call seems excessive, unrealistic and impossible. Yet, the history of fasting shows the Jewish people already fasted two days, on Mondays and Thursdays.

Jesus did not discard the value of fasting nor did He forbid fasting twice a week. He only forbade judging others.

In calling us to fast two days a week, Mary remains in the tradition of Her Israelite nation and reminds us of the multi- century tradition of the Eastern and Western Church.
