Fr. Barron make a great analogy in this short clip that, no matter what our successes or accomplishments might be, nothing on earth can satisfy us because we are wired for God. Without God we are incomplete!
"The invasion of grace" - if only in our addictions we could recognize this.
I was thinking this morning that one way to achieve the detachment Father speaks of is to resolve to mortify ourselves once a day, whether it is denying ourselves a good we are justly entitled to, or to perform some act out of love of God that we are not obliged to do.
Detachment is something that we really need to work at, at least I do. Fasting comes to mind for me, even if it starts out with smaller portions or refraining from the salt shaker that I enjoy so much!
When you mention performing some act out of love I am reminded of the saying "Practice Random Acts of Kindness"; I like that thought.

I remember going to a baseball game at the Astrodome in Houston Texas. Never understood what was going on ... it looked like fun though!
I suppose Americans feel the same when we in the UK play cricket! What's all that about?
Fr Barron makes a good point about us being "wired for God".
God bless.
Victor, I like your comment about cricket. You are right, I don't understand it!
God bless
Hi DG,
I love Fr. Barron. He has such a simple way of explaining the gospel! I'm going to listen to his post on Barack Obama next.
Oh, I will have to listen to that one Noreen, thanks for the tip!
