Bloom Where You Are Planted

Stay where you are. Find your own Calcutta. Find the sick, the suffering and the lonely right there where you are -- in your own homes and in your own families, in your workplaces and in your schools. ... You can find Calcutta all over the world, if you have the eyes to see. Everywhere, wherever you go, you find people who are unwanted, unloved, uncared for, just rejected by society -- completely forgotten, completely left alone."

~ Blessed Mother Teresa

Mother Teresa’s words are so wise and so simple. It begins with me; it begins with you. We don’t need to go far to find someone in need, someone who needs a phone call, a smile, or some company.

It is like that old saying goes, “Bloom where you’re planted”

Prayer: Lord, open my eyes that I may see what I choose to neglect, especially in my own home and amongst my own family. Increase my charity so, that I may give to others, as you have given to me. May I bloom where you have planted me.

I had never heard these words of Mother Teresa before. You know how a flower wilts when it is lacking attention. I notice that in my children. Whenever they misbehave more than usual or in extreme ways, I think it is because they are lacking my attention and their normal good before begins to wilt and suffer. When I water them with love, attention and prayers, I can see them begin to perk back up again. I guess my garden is my home and family. Great post, great prayer. Thanks!

'why do I live here, why not somewhere else..' this thought had haunted me for sometimes..however I believe now that He has big plan for me anywhere I live, yes we can find Calcutta all over the world, and use our eyes and heart to see. Thanks for this great post, GBU abundantly.
