“When you give alms, do not blow a trumpet before you, …..to
win the praise of others…., do not let your left hand know what your right is
doing,…..And your Father who sees in secret will repay you”. Matthew 6: 1-6
Have you ever put so much of your time and effort into
something and had it go unnoticed?
Or, maybe you put so much of
yourself into something and someone close to you makes a comment saying, “Why did
you go to all this trouble when you could have easily done this instead?”.
......... sound familiar?
These words of Jesus hit home for me today because, if I were to be honest, I would have to say that I'd hope others would notice my efforts once in a while. Maybe just a little pat on the back or a hooyah for good measure would be nice!
But the fact is, Jesus wants me to do things because I believe in what I am doing and not because I want to be noticed. On the other hand, I think he wants me to be more aware of what others do for me, especially in my family. A little thank you goes a long way, it is an act of love.
Gratitude is another form of alms-giving, give generously!

Thank you for a well-considered post. It makes us think how often we forgot to thank others, and more important, God, for what has been done for us.
Bless you.
God is good, DG :) Thanks for reminding us of the importance of having a generous and grateful heart.
